Andrew Fuller: Model Pastor-Theologian

If you are a regular reader, you probably know my all-time favorite Baptist is Andrew Fuller. My friend Paul Brewster has recently published an excellent monograph on the famed pastor titled Andrew Fuller: Model Pastor-Theologian (B&H Academic, 2010). The book is a revised version of his widely regarded dissertation at Southeastern Seminary. I’ve written a review of Andrew Fuller: Model Pastor-Theologian for Credo Magazine’s website. I conclude the following:

Andrew Fuller: Model-Pastor Theologian deserves a wide reading among pastors, scholars, and students. Pastors will find a mostly positive example for how to think theologically while attempting to faithfully shepherd God’s flock. Scholars will appreciate the soundness of Brewster’s scholarship and many will resonate with Fuller’s wedding of constructive theology with pastoral ministry. Students will benefit from being introduced to Fuller’s life and thought and will hopefully be encouraged by his contributions as a pastor-theologian. The attention currently being given to pastor-theologians and Andrew Fuller are both positive trends. Paul Brewster has done us a service by merging these two important themes in his fine book.

I hope you’ll read the whole review and then purchase and read Paul’s book the first chance you get, especially if you are a pastor or aspire to pastoral ministry.
