The summer 2011 issue of The City includes a round-table discussion on “Renewing the Liberal Arts.” The point of departure for the roundtable is Brad Green’s recent book The Gospel and the Mind: Recovering and Shaping the Intellectual Life (Crossway, 2010). I reviewed Green’s excellent book back in January of this year. The participants in the roundtable include Louis Markos of Houston Baptist University, John Mark Reynolds of Biola University, and Green, who teaches at Union University. The following articles comprised the round-table:
Louis Markos, “Renewing the Liberal Arts,” pp. 4–13.
Brad Green, “Restoring the Liberal Arts,” pp. 14–19.
John Mark Reynolds, “Adapting the Liberal Arts,” pp. 20–26.
If, like me, you are at all interested in a recovery of classical liberal arts education, especially for undergraduates, I’d encourage you to read these helpful articles. You can find them at Civitate, the online home of The City.
